The most stunning example of cellular memory was found in an eight year old girl who received the heart of a ten year old girl. The recipient was plagued after surgery with vivid nightmares about an attacker and a girl being murdered. After being brought to a psychiatrist her nightmares proved to be so vivid and real that the psychiatrist believed them to be genuine memories. As it turns out the ten year old whose heart she had just received was murdered and due to the recipients violent reoccurring dreams she was able to describe the events of that horrible encounter and the murderer so well that police soon apprehended, arrested, and convicted the killer.

I don't really know hubpages website but I found the same information elsewhere.

Is this story true? I assume if so, this was in the news somewhere?

I was wondering the other day about memory "stored" in other parts of your body than your brain. Obviously, memory cells that help build resistance to illnesses are an example, but I had more specific memory in mind. Thought memory, or remembering what you thought some time in the past.

Is it possible, for example, that a heart can remember a certain thought? I guess this is jumping for speculation into sci fi, but I was wondering nontheless.

Another question I have is whether it is possible that an animal cloned from Dolly sheep's DNA, may have a tendency toward Dolly's habits? Is it possible that the cloned animal will remember anything that Dolly remembered in its life?
 
well, maybe the heart remembers events that makes it kick into over drive so that if the event can happen again, it triggers a response, and you know what to do?

Well, there's not much difference between cells, mainly structure differences, and some more organelle differences... We also don't fully understand cells, like why they age. We don't know fully how cells member things either... so...
 
I once watched a program on Nat Geo a while back about this. It seems to be genuine. I recall one kid of about 13 or 14 years of age received an organ. He then started smoking. Turns out the dude he got the organ from was a smoker.

well, who would take a smokers organs anyways :p
 
Once is strange, twice is interesting, let it be repeatable and testable, then maybe it will be worthwhile, until then it's a hoax at worst and a misunderstanding at best.
