Thanks.
Used the cable, as the settings were not saving over wireless. I ahve the same AP firmware version.
WPA and WPA2 did not resolve. However when I used Disable or WEP my Wifi works and I have internet on the Macbook Air.

So left it on WEP, with 802.11b+g. I am assuming since I enter a key for WEP it is secure.

Hope this works and the WIFI stays connected. Thanks for your assistance GreGorGy. Much Appreciated.

Did you click apply?

Look, I have had issues with my MBP and this particular router series. Below, my settings - ymmv. YELLOW indicates settings panel.

(1) I have b/g but this is where you would experiment. Later models support n as well.
(2) Channel can also be a bugger. Some TV re-transmitters and microwaves and other sources of EMF interfere with wireless signals so try changing channels. Especially if other networks are visible - find a channel that they are not using.
(3) What is your firmware version

You could also try disabling security entirely to see if that makes a difference. After changing None/WPA/Wep setting, press apply then save config then restart.

I managed to change my wifi to WEP - but now I'm faced with another issue - I auto generated a WEP key and tried entering it to join the network on my MPB but its doesn't accept the password? i Entered the same password on my iPhone and it joined just fine? please help

I'll check on my similar router tomorrow when I am at it and make sure of a few things and advise. Try for now using a simple key.

Maybe try deleting the preferred network and then adding it again on the MBP

Thanks GreGorGy.. I tried switching from WEP128 to WEP64 and still won't connect - I also now have to re-enter the WEP password to join the network on my iPhone everytime it goes out of range (FRUSTRATED)

Is this connection problem exclusive to Billion Routers? Would you recommend getting an Airport express?

Please let me know what you come up with.. Thanks a mil for your help on this Forum.

strange enough i was having this issue at yesterday trying to browse the net and watch YouTube vids. I would notice that the vid would stop buffering and i couldnt get to any web pages so i jsut turned the wifi off and back on, on the laptop and all worked fine for about half an hour.. this happened a few times during the day...

came back in today and havent had a single problem... so leads me to believe its osx Yosemite and not my infrastructure..
