OST to PST converter

Can anyone assist with a free .OST to .PST converter?

Our IT dept formatted our laptops and made backups of our emails as OST files. He then moved it over to a new Exchange server. Installed everything and realized you cant import OST files into Outlook, must be PST.

I've looked around and Googled and seems like all the software that can do that, you need to pay for. Any free versions out there or anyone out there willing to assist me to get my old emails back?

I got so far as to having a software program where I can see the entire email file structure with all emails, and I can open and read emails and attachments etc. But I can't import it back into Outlook without paying for the full version. I need that functionality.

The free programs are quite well hidden on Google, but they're there.

Your best option is to get your IT department to fund the application that fixes their screwup.

The joys of being new (I would hope he is new.).

What I did when this happened was find a converter that seemed decent, then found a torrent for it

New exchange server, or hosted exchange? Where is the old server, because he can export the mailbox to a pst file on the server.
Also, I agree with them carrying the cost, because this seems like poor planning and inexperienced support people.

Ost files are basically just exchange cache. If you didn’t set outlook via gpo or manually to cache all mail anything older than the default time (1 year) is lost. It’s something but not ideal.

I’d rather spin up a backup of the old exchange mail server on a private network and have the tech sort their stuffup out.
