OSX Leopard - just delivered

Wont be getting mine until the end of next week :o

Enjoy it. Been listening to this weeks MacBreak Weekly and they're all pretty much raving about it. There are significant changes under the hood too that I wasnt aware about.

LOL download should be finished tonight!!!
How big was the d/l?

Now that I've ordered my copy I'm not going to lose a bit of sleep by ensuring a more timely delivery than Core can achieve.

So why are you showing off Leopard and a Dell keyboard? ;)

LOL - Thats my work PC.. Leopard was delivered to my work - just too late to take the afternoon off.

Installation

Got home - too lazy to struggle with re-installing everything and did an upgrade.. Ran for around 40 min.
Booted up and am now running on Leopard.
No hassels NO bsods nothing.
two small updates to Remote desktop client and something else (total about 6meg) can't remember what the other one was - too excited to look properley.

Running smoooothly at this stage - will slowly test all installed apps too see what is not working - I beleive Markspace's Missing Sync might cause hassels - upgrade immenent on their site.

Luv the dock and Finder - for me it is worth it.

IT JUST WORKS... :D

Now pse excuse me while I get to play some more...

...

Now do you notice any significant performance improvements?
That's all I really want. Better multithreading. Eyecandy can
hide itself.

Also isn't the translucent menu bar annoying?

I think vendor software has to catch up with the OS to take full advantage of what's under the hood. But so far all reports are that it actually is a substantive upgrade.

Can't comment on the multithreading at this stage... Performance seems the same at this early stage.
I do not get translucent menu bars - maybe cause its a Macbook and the graphics card is not up to scratch? (unless it has to be enabled somewhere but I have'nt found it yet).

You sure? Try toggling the desktop background between light and dark backgrounds.

The menu at the top of the screen is translucent... menu bars on finder windows aren't - changed backgrounds but nothing.

Dock is 3D at the bottom but 2d on the sides. Both translucent

Front row - will have a look still.
FrontRow - Oh Wow... looks like the AppleTV interface - and your CD covers sweep past all the time while in the menu - you can also listen to iTunes top 10 music CD's (previews of 30sec only)

I just realised that Leopard is just like XP SP2, just an update of the OS, only thing is Microsoft doesn't rip R1k from its customers for an update!

/me runs and hides :D

No they charge even more to downgrade from XP to Vista.

EDIT - the . upgrades are far more significant than the SP's.
