Howzit,

So this is something I've never really noticed while living in SA because I guess we see it every day and become accustomed to it. Now I left the country for a year and came back for a bit of a holiday and can't get over the fact how fat people are getting.

It's like 1 in 4 people are overweight and its shocking. Now I'm no fit oke and I know this and working on it so I'm not judging, just a bit freaked out to be honest.

That's all, small observation.

Peace

I find the fact that people killing each other over trivial matters more concerning.

But we've been killing each other for decades... Not really a new thing. Not condoning it but it is what it is.

Actually to add.. Quite a shocking statistic. In Iraq, a war torn country still have a lower death rate per year compared to us. 9000 murders in 2013 compared to our 15k +-

Haha. But what's the main cause ? I think its Definitely our cuisine. But what else ? Laziness? Expensive ? I kind of buy the money part but not 100% convinced. Go make stir fry and rice. Cheap n healthy.

Depends where you stay. Where I'm from in JHB South people are either fitness freaks or total slobs. Not much middle ground.

too many easy meals, with no real nutritional value...- people seem to live off fastfood/convenient meals....cutting down on that crap and actually a real meal more often would make the world of difference...balanced diet FTW...

This is happening because people are being worked to death... get stuck in traffic and get home really late, nobody is in the mood to make dinner.
Its a combination of the slave lifestyle and too little personal time.

Too much time is spent to make a living, which is a pittance, versus personal time. People are working longer and longer hours. Kids also complicate things.

I'd probably agree with you. But also lifestyle.
Someone talked about "Stir fry and rice. Cheap and healthy". True! But how many of us do that for lunch or dinner? Fast food are full during lunch time! I'm not saying fast food is bad, but some people just make it their day-to-day eating style (Like a friend of mine) and when it comes to exercising... Hum!

Per new24 today, 40% of women are overweight in SA.

Yeah! And the size of clothes are slowly changing... Don't know if you also realized that. I'm size 12, and I know I haven't lost weight, but some size 10 are fitting me now.

I hear you....but,....Make the time...., in the end, you will be winner or loser....with increase weight comes even more complications. A cooked meal does not take hours, and way more nutritional than the crap you can pick up at McDs and co...
