For this reason, if I am not able to make food due to work pressure, I will go get a Woolworths meal. That is still a far cry better than McDonalds cardboard. I also tend to do take-out, in a hurry, from a restaurant, which, often is the same as a home-cooked meal.

I have also found there are other factors. I do not get overweight, regardless of what I eat. The actual situation is that food like McDonalds just gives me a short boost for like 3 hours, then its over.

It's like 1 in 4 people are overweight and its shocking.
Not really shocking unless they're obese.

Remarkably, while some people are getting fat, about half of our population is food insecure.
Not really. The less money people have for food the more likely they are to eat a diet high in simple carbohydrates and low in protein.

....with increase weight comes even more complications.
That's only really true for the obese and above categories.

....Make the time
If only we had the time to whip up a batch of time.

You think the problem will hold steady at the overweight mark only?

I am no life coach, either make the time or suffer the consequences of not making time...your choice..

Haha. But what's the main cause ? I think its Definitely our cuisine. But what else ? Laziness? Expensive ? I kind of buy the money part but not 100% convinced. Go make stir fry and rice. Cheap n healthy.

Foods with lots of starches in them. Like pap, etc.

I've picked up over 20KG in the past years and a lot is to do with work pressure and lack of time. I leave home just after 6 and get home around 6 and I'm exhausted by then. I really can't get the energy together to go to gym after dinner and putting kids to bed etc. One has to have some time to unwind. Also I love food. We do eat healthy though and have fast food perhaps 2-4 times a month. Portion sizes are more a problem for me.

Amazing the perspective you get just by being away for a little bit.

From general consensus here I'm going to say it's mainly time. I think our cuisine is very fattening in general, high carbs (bread, potato, pap etc) and high protein in red meat. Over there its 95% rice + noodles with pork/chicken/seafood and its generally cooked in a healthy manner.

I eat out every night not because of time but because its cheaper, whether at a restaurant or off the street and by doing this i've dropped 13kgs. I've come back for a holiday and eat the normal stuff - meat, veg, starch for dinner, sandwiches for lunch etc and already put on 4kg.

Okes need to chill out here, SA is such a high stressed environment so its quite rational to see why unhealthy eating is an easy pattern to follow.

Where in Thailand are you? I want to go back for a year

Little town called Ubon Ratchathani.
