Ordered Rain 5G on 3rd Feb. Delivery happened on the 5th at 11am. By 3pm nothing. Received an sms at 5pm that CDC confirmed delivery to Rain. Logged a request to have the sim activated.

Saturday, nothing
Sunday, nothing

Monday morning 8am contacts MyBroadband, Twitter DM and Customer Care. The feedback, activation will take 4hours.

Monday 1pm, oh there is a delay, please call in an hour
Monday 1:30pm Rain representative on Mybroadband confirms "That our order was never completed" - very weird as I have the router and sim, and I have paid!

2:30pm phones Rain (again) - excuses about system updates, and they have a back log and that it can take 24-72 hours. Cool, since we received the sim on Friday, it has been 72hrs- so wtf?!

Okay, sim was allocated to a person (Deon) and he has numerous queries as Rain informs us due to whatever, they have had an activation backlog since last week and they are drowning.

So where does this leave us? We have to wait until tomorrow and see what is going on and phone again.

Just do not understand it. Someone is bullshitting.

Welcome to RAIN, this is about what to expect from their service.
Actually surprised that you have been able to get them on the phone

Yes, welcome to Rain, pretty much the worst network I had ever used. In the beginning everything was working as it should, but over time that happens with overselling a service and doing nothing to clear the bottlenecks on the network and just adding and adding more sims on the way over congested network, I had enough of them and cancelled due to multiple router restarts throughout the day and not being able to at least use the internet for streaming and general browsing. Support also is none existent. I cancelled last month and received a bill for R479 charged - as they say they bill in arrears - pathetic!! I feel they owe me the R479 for bad service. Rain will never see me again.

+1 on delivered but not activated yet.

The rep here was quick to respond though after DM.

Did you come right with activation? How long did it take eventually?

So bizarre.

I ordered my 5G kit on the Sunday I was up and running by Tuesday.

No phone calls, no drama.

Rain is not being honest about their "website upgrade" that happened at the beginning of this month. Everything is broken.

1. Payments. 3d Secure doesn't load so payment decline
2. Simcards do not get activated
3. Invoices was not working for quite some time
4. Data usage is no longer working
5. Simcards suspended for non payment are all working
6. R250 uncapped and Pay as you use simcards all work 24/7 with data access but no usage getting tracked and don't get billed.

I smell 1 of 2 possibilities. Website was hacked and data destroyed or system failure and took the data with it and the system is being rebuild piece by piece.

Hmm I know the company behind their billing and activations systems have moved everything to Managed Services in India as of the end of December.

I wonder if that has maybe gone horrible wrong exactly as I suspected it would.
