Our weak network stopped us from cutting prices: MTN SA CEO

Lols, in the long run you wont have subscribers to use your "improved" network..

Sitting back and let other operators take your users is definitely not the answer.

Hmmm, their network seems good to me. I pay a premium over Telkom because of their coverage when I'm in small hellhole towns.

As someone who cancelled their contract with them I feel no remorse.

I too have been struggling for ages to get my MTN sim to work properly. Random disconnects from the internet, dropped calls and throughput problems finally pushed me over the edge to cancel the contract and move away from them.

Good riddance

Under investing for years in their infrastructure in SA (using it more for Nigeria, their cash cow) and using it as an excuse. MTN should be a political party, not a MNC

As someone looking to port at the end of this month from Vodacom, this article just said "stay the hell away from us at MTN" to me.

Telkom here I come...

Hilton Tarrant from Immedia wrote an excellent article about this <6 months ago and stated that, through financial results compared to Vodacom, it was very clear that they were horribly under spending on infrastructure upgrades and called this moment - it is going to make them hurt now as they purge pre and postpaid subscribers...

If you use telkom you just roam on MTN and pay telkom prices.

Telkom roams onto mtn. You are paying a premium for nothing

i don't have any complaints either.

Are you on prepaid? Their sms spam with constant rubbish offers would drive me nuts. I have one of their prepaid sims in an SMS router and I continually have to clear the inbox of MTN spam...

CellC is no different... I get 2 or 3 every day... even though I have turned the stuff off apparently in their retarded web portal.

I left MTN for Vodacom and I am not looking back! My missed/dropped calls stopped and I get LTE where there should be LTE etc.
If MTN management made bad decisions(Nigeria fine), why must the customer pay for it?
