Hi,

I want to confirm that when one is out of bundle, they are switched to GPRS (56K), instead of 3G. I also downloaded the E220 firmware update from the Vodacom website, and advice that others should not do it, as it locks your modem not to use other networks available.

Please help about the above query of being switched to GPRS after you exhausted your bundle.

No your speed or connection isn't changed once you exceed your bundle, its just a billing function, so you'll continue to use the same service and just be charged more. Obviously if you're on prepaid and run out of airtime you'll be cut off completely.

I am actually experiencing this now, since I'm out of bundle my modem only connects with 2G. What can I do to make it work fine again?

If u bought a 500mb, 1gig or 2gig bundle u should run at full speed, even out-of-bundle will run full speed.

only diff is the price. : out of bundle is R2 per meg

your speed problems might be due to network issues or signal quality

That might be what appear to happen, [post=986902]if you are trying to use a 64K MTN SIM in a Huawei E220, rather use a 32K MTN SIM instead...[/post]

It is actually amazing because everything was OK yesterday until I got SMS that I'm out of bundle, and I am currently using out of bundle. I am using a E220 USB modem and what is amazing is that when I click on tools->Select network on VMCLite (i.e. the application) I can see that Vodacom 3G is available but the current option is 2G, if I select 3G it does not work. Do you perhaps know what can the issue be?

I think you should rather try the Huawei Mobile Connect dashboard for the E220, the VMCLite s/w does not appear to have profile options for 3G-only etc.
