Hi,
I'm tweaking a VOIP PBX we have, Asterisk, routing internal VOIP calls over a Telkom PRI (ISDN 30).
All is well except that our outbound caller ID doesn't work. - shows as "private number" or "withheld".
I've tried several settings in zapata.conf, but noting seems to make a difference.
Any troubleshooting tips?
Thanks
Steven

Not quite related to Asterisk, but had the same type of issue on our Nortel switch, it ended up setting up the Nortel to send 0011XXXXXXX to Telkom before the number displayed correctly.

Awesome

Thanks for the tips...
We having load-shedding at the office, so I can't try now, but will 1st thing tomorrow
Thanks for the advice, will post when it's working so the info is out there for all to see...
local VOIP info seems hard to come by here in SA.

Doesn't work for me I'm afraid. I've got nationalprefix=0 and internationalprefix=00 in my chan_dahdi.conf file, and am not getting the CLI working, also, if I dial national numbers, I have to strip off the leading 0, eg, dialing 0123456789 needs to result in something like Dial(DAHDI/r1/123456789). The statement directly before that is Set(CallerID(num)=00129876543), also tried with 00119876543, 6543 as well as just 129876543, all result in private number.

Or........your VoIP provider is routing Cell calls through a SIM Farm service. In which case you will NEVER be able to solve outbound DID. SIM Farm technology does not allow this. The only way to circumvent this is through a VoIP provider that offers an alternative route plan (Direct Interconncet) where rates will be higher (+- R1.35)
