Ok this is a fresh install with a csv imported address book which the fields match 100% and the addresses is seen fine in the contacts tab.

When you create a new email and start typing a name the auto complete does not work. I've checked the options and it is selected. I've also deleted the nk2 file and still no go.

If however you start typing the first letter of a name and then click the "Check Name" button on the menu it picks up the name and any subsequent uses the autocomplete for that name works. This is obviously not how it should be working.

Any ideas as this is driving me up the wall?

Did you copy over the previous Outlooks nk2 file? That's what we did when supporting office 2003 and the user needed their old previously-mailed/auto-complete system to work as before (and not want to "teach" outlook again).

There is no previous outlook nk2 file. The previous client was thunderbird.

This works on my 2007 Outlook, it has SP3...maybe yours is an older version.

Goto www.nirsoft.net and download nk2 edit, it allows you to rebuild ip the nk2 file from a csv, or even by scanning through your emails

Thanks, I'll try that tomorrow.

Thanks, that seems to have done the job. She will double check everything but when I went through the alphabet it came up with suggestions for most of the the letters i entered.

What I experience is that with these kind of issues is : makes sure the nk2 file is the same name as the mail profile name. If this is not the same then it will not work!
