I had a problem with Outlook 2013 being stuck at the loading profile screen (after an Office update), and the solution was as follows:
1) Stop the dwm.exe process
2) Start Outlook (it should load now without a problem)
3) Go to File > Options > Advanced
4) Tick "Disable graphic acceleration"
5) Close Outlook
6) log off / log on windows session
7) start outlook
Curiously the problem only occurred when I used the laptop normally - docking it removed the problem.
