Hi there,

What is the best Email Client to use in your opinion?

Outlook is pretty decent, but i find it too unstable. I have looked at Thunderbird, but cannot import my PST files into it... What are some good clients to use, from your personal experience?

There is a wealth of information on getting your PST into thunderbird if you google it.
Thunderbird is what I use, and probably always will.
If you're a Mac user, there are some really nice alternatives including their built-in postbox

If Outlook is to unstable your doing something wrong.

I've been using outlook for longer than I can remember, I've never found it unstable and it just keeps getting better with age. I've tried Thunderbird as an alternative many years ago when I tried moving away from having to use M$ products but so many of my clients are M$ product based that it wasn't a viable option.

I've had a gmail account for many years and that is my back up to synch my Outlook contacts and diary with my Android devices, it's also the account that I use when subscribing to websites or purchasing on line where an email address is required.

It's really all about what your requirements are.

Basically i have x2 users on one PC (One night shift, one dayshift) and they each have separate email accounts, so on the one users account they will use Outlook and the other user, on their account will use an alternative email program. This is just one reason why i want an alternative...

Other reasons are: (Amongst others)
- Bored of Outlook
- Outlook crashes on a few of my employees now and then and freezes up explorer until they cancel the windows error finder (which never finds $h1t anyways) All software is licensed as well.

Like Thunderbird.
With MozBackup it is extremely easy to migrate between machines.
Searching and indexing probably the best out there.

You could just create 2 profiles under Outlook, one for each user?
What version of Outlook are you currently using?
The crashing issue indicates something else is wrong

Never actually done this, so how does it work? Surely if the day shift user is on his email, and then night shift comes in, it is going to automatically load into the day shift users email? Or is there a way to force a login?

Using Outlook 2007

Thanks, this is helpful for my issue of 2x people using 1 pc, appreciate it.

But back to my original question, does everyone feel that Outlook is the best client to use in an office environment or are there other email programs that you prefer? All my particular problems aside... What is your email client of choice?

Windows offers a free alternative that you can download. It is called Windows Mail.

In the MS environment I'd go for Thunderbird if all you need is a straight forward email client, it's free and gets the job done, for fancier requirements your best (only?) bet is Outlook.

To answer an earlier query: Mozbackup is an excellent little freebie which enables you to port all your Thunderbird settings and mail to another machine with a few quick clicks. Perfect for replicating your entire e-mail settings and messages across different machines. I think it also works for FireFox though I've never tried it, being a devout Opera fan.

I'm inclined to agree with this
