Outlook.com upgrades for Mail and Calendar

I have a live.co.za (Outlook.com) account. I have never noticed any ad in there other than the occasional ‘MS prompted’ spam which I will block.

They have Ads done the right hand side of the screen, which disappear with a bog standard ad blocker.

You're probably an O365 subscriber.

No, standard old user subscription,

I have Gmail, iCloud, Outlook.com and the business use G Suite (and another business arm uses O365).

They have Ads done the right hand side of the screen, which disappear with a bog standard ad blocker.

I guess that is why I have never noticed it. Just noticed this, wasn't there previously as I mainly access my mail through MS Outlook.

Imho, in the position MS is in, this is rather stupid on their part as they use it as a medium to promote 365. It is poor and anti-competitive, against themselves, it is like drowning ‘open-source’ to highlight commercial alternatives. They have the capacity to ‘give’ outlook.com than to ‘sell’ it. This is abusive, and though many may disagree with me, they are creating revenue channels in the wrong places for the wrong audience. Greed.

And for the low price of R200-350 a year (on OLX), you can be too. It's worth it just for the 1TB OneDrive storage.

And with that sub you wouldn't be using the ad-free Outlook.com experience anyway - you'd be using Outlook on desktop. A 365 sub also removes ads in the mobile app.

Not everyone requires the ‘enhanced’ or additional features.
