Outlook Express

For the past few days I have experienced problems, sending/receiving.
Whenever I do this the programme hangs and does not respond and so I have to close it.
When I re-open it will send and download without a hitch, however, after a few minutes I have to repeat the procedure laa over again.
I have my legal disc for XP Home and want to know if it is possible to re-install Outlook Express without losing addresses and folders.

Re-install the latest service pack and patches - it does the same thing
