Outlook/Google calendar/corporate firewall - HELP PLEASE!

Apologies if in wrong sub-forum.

I use Outlook 2012 on my work laptop and I need to sync it with Google Calendar. My laptop was replaced yesterday and I can't re-install Google's Calendar Sync - they've made changes to my priviledges (previously synching was blocked, but I could get it to work if I connected my laptop via iphone's personal hotspot).

Can anyone recommend an alternative to sync - or circumvent the blocking of installation?

Sounds like they've removed your installation privelages now. I fscking haaate IT departments that are hell bent on making user's working experiences worse off. I would raise it with them that it's a work function, if they come back with policy BS, go to HR or your boss.

There must be some alternative solutions?

is only corporate paranoia trying to restrict users of taking information out of the company. (wonder why virtualization is getting quite popular with the big corps).
Take it to the IT guys in your company, explain the issue and buy them some beers. That should sort your problem.

Approach them nicely. Remember that they are only doing their job and one item is that the IT hardware must conform to the standards. Even if you are a responsible person the IT department genreally treats all the same from the CEO to the clerks.
Giving you privileges that you shouldnt have could be a disciplinary offence.
However if you explain what you want loaded and why they may load it for you under the administrator privileges and then allow you to use it.

Some organisations I know are blocking the use of external sources like Google Calendar and docs. And in some organisations using company supplied IT equipment for personal accessing of the web is against company policy.
