US jobsite CareerBuilder recently published a list of outrageous excuses workers have told their employers when calling in sick.

Best is to combine them for real effect - "I like totally can't come in today, 'cos, like, I can't figure out what to wear 'cos my glass eye fell out..."

I dont know why people bother making up excuses. Just say you have gastro and are going at both ends - nobody is going to ask you to come in!

Well...I've seen worst excuses. Making fun of some of them made my day bearable.

things work a bit different in the states, I know with the federal government, you get so many sick days a year and you can use them however you like. my mom saves hers till the end of the year and takes a bunch of personal days.
