Outsurance advert

Because there are not 9 white dudes for every black dude in South Africa.
Here are demographics figures from 2014:
80.2% Black
8.8% Coloured
8.4% White
2.5% Asian

With those figures in mind, do you still not see a problem with the fact that only one person of colour was presented? Do you think that the demographics of SA are accurately represented? Do you not see how it subtly enforces the idea that whites are superior by giving nothing more than a perfunctory few seconds to black representation? Do you not see how it subtly says that white fathers are better than fathers of colour?

I really understand how you can't see anything wrong here; you have an internet connection, you can read articles, there's no reason to be uneducated or tone-deaf as to why it is wrong.

Let me break it down for you because you seem incapable of searching for and reading a couple of articles related to white privilege, feminism (a school of thought that advocates for equality), and race in 2017.

There is a fuss over the ad because people of colour feel like they are not being represented.

It's easy for you to say "we're all human regardless of skin colour" when you are constantly shown images of people who belong to your race. And apart from that, the whole "I don't see colour" or "can we look beyond race" defense is pretty racist; by saying that you negate the unprivileged experience that a person of colour has to endure in our world.

Basically, the Outsurance ad says "only white is all right" and you're defending that.

i signed up and created an account to respond to a post that i disagree with.
Are going to call every person who signs up to a site a "one post wonder troll" on their first day or was this just for me?

The point is, why the **** does it matter? It's a bloody ad. You're the one reading stuff into it - the problem is in your head. Offence is taken, not given.

oh my god i signed up today in order to respond to something i (and many others) disagree with. Are you going to call every first time poster a banned user hiding behind a new account.

Y'all can actually keep your ****ttyyyy thread. If people on this site disavow new users' comments what's the point of me even engaging?

Now now. Dont' go all snowflakey on us! ;-) You need big kahoonas to hang out on this forum.

Normally an ad is scripted in accordance with current data, to retain and support a customer base, or to explore or breach alternate market segments. This is very layman put, and understandably so we have a country where PR is crucial in addressing socioeconomics.

Look at our beer ads, since late 2016 going up to now there is a strong target on black males. I have seen this in other liquor ads as well.

Honest question, do you support accurate representation by demographics in sports, the public and private sector, and property?

So this outsurance advert is serious they even discussing it on eNCA. All I can say we got long way to go.
