I need to get my farking body clock in working condition again. So I need some sleeping pills that don't need prescription.

After my exams, the stress had got to me and had eroded my sleeping patterns. I also need to wake up at 5 this saturday (to drive down to durbz), so I really need it.

Costs would be very welcome too :)

Melatonin! FTW!!!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melatonin

Melatonin

:: Improves sleep patterns
:: Reduces the effects of aging
:: Supports immune function
:: Powerful anti-oxidant effects

Melatonin is a hormone produced by the pineal gland in the brain and is responsible for regulating day-night rhythms and therefore controls sleep patterns. It also has antiaging and powerful anti-oxidant effects in the body. As individuals age, the production of melatonin however declines. Supplementation may counteract this decline.

Who can Benefit from using Melatonin?
Everyone, including athletes and older individuals, can benefit from Biogen’s melatonin especially people who want to:

* Slow the aging process
* Improve immune function
* Travel east over time zones and thus reduce jet-lag
* Improve sleeping patterns

You can get it from DisChem... just ask for Biogen Melatonin.

I use Calmettes Night which is a herbal based over the counter pill. I find it's pretty mild and doesn't leave me feeling like a zombie the next morning. They are also one of the cheaper options. I also found that as a side effect they made me feel a lot less tense and edgy the next day (Which is good since I was not in a particularly good place.)

Melatonin is natural, but really costly - plus those in the pharmacies aren't really strong enough to have a huge effect. If you buy Melatonin, go to a homeopath or a health shop.

Alternatively, somnil/betasleep you can get OTC, plus they are very cheap.

But like markred said, why take sleeping pills? Just wait for your body to get into tune again. It's normal for it to be thrown off after exams.

Dischem Biogen Melatonin is R50.00 for 60 capsules. How much have you gotten it for at any other sources, which ones can you reccomend?

Somnil and Betasleep are a cheaper option, but those are based on Anti-histamines and give you that groggy feeling in the morning (at least until you get used to it).

I've used Solal's melatonin before. Can't remember it being excessively priced. Have trouble sleeping, and half of one of those works like a dream. 30 minutes after taking it, I'm usually out. With none of those nasty after-effects that come with taking sleeping pills.

Why do people need pills to sleep. 1 beer and a good wan k is proven to have you sleeping like a new born. Look at MJ i gave him the exact same advice and he flat out ignored me... look at him now.. poor sucker

Nothing herbal or homeopathic is likely to have any effect, other than the placebo effect, which I guess is good enough when it comes to sleeping pills - just make sure you trust they will work. :)

I actually find that any cheap anti-histamine knocks me out within an hour and makes me sleep for several hours. I've always wondered why anti-histamines are not marketed as sleeping pills. They're dirt cheap and available OTC.

If you do want to go 'natural', the best option is probably marijuana - it will induce a general relaxation, and if you lie down, you'll probably fall asleep. Your dreams will be a little ****ed up though.

Gary over the years USN products have been shown to not only be inferior (from personal experience) but also it is not quality control tested and often they put inferior crap into their supplements. Biogen is Dischems brand that USN manufactures for them.

I have been training for many years and you can ask many experienced athletes and bodybuilders what they think of USN. I also used to work in the supplement industry for a while and the stories you hear about their products are shocking at times. Point is, some of their ***** may work, but I wouldn't put their so-called products into my body ever again.

I don't know if any of the other supplement companies have equivalent products though....

OK, I see... but in this case there is only one ingredient - 3 mg of Melatonin.

If I can find it cheaper anywhere else, I would get it.

Scotty arent exams over? Hit some Mary Jane and getting back to sleeping like a baby :cool:

Lazy sods - do some excersise. Go for a 5km jog or a 15km cycle - works wonders. I live on coffee at work ( we only drink the good stuff - fresh filter coffee ) and my cycling helps me sleep.

Also helps me for my stress (just wrote my last UNISA exam and the cycle to the examination hall was what I needed to calm down and focus).

1000% LOL

There was a big debate over at thehubsa.co.za about USN :D

Lets just say I'm sticking to my Askerjurgen mix of multidoxtrein and fructose for my energy drinks.
