Okay Im trying to overclock my 3d card to the Turbo Edition's speeds:
685/1100

Im using ATI Tray Tool, but I cant get it to run stable... I figure that it should be able to run at those speeds because HIS brings them out overclocked at those speeds aswell...

Its not like its overheating... It goes upto 62C underload... Which is fine... I've got the fan speed up so it doesnt overheat, but still my games hang etc. Ive increased the volts aswell using ATT but still the same problem...

Am I missing something? If I use the ATT artifact tester I get artifacts but still why would I get artifacts, the card isnt overheating and pushing it to 685/1100 should be do-able.. Ive seen some people reach 720/1200?

The stock volts seems to be 1.120 and the next step is 1.158... Which is also the highest ATT allows me to go... Also I dont want to screw around to much with volts...

Any tips?

i think you just got a bad gpu man... like it will work well at stock speeds, but it fails to clock well...

maybe try clock the gpu to those speeds and level the ram, if it persists then you know the gpu just doesn't like overclocking... if so, then just up the ram(that will improve the AA performance and frame rates slightly)

Okay so you agree that I've basically tried all I can?

Ive actually uninstalled ATT and Im just running it stock atm... Already OC'd my CPU yesterday so I'll enjoy that increase a bit and then try again :/

ye, i think you will have to settle for a slight overclock man...

I know the following is probably meaningless, but just to put things into perspective...:o
HIS HD 4850 IceQ 4 512MB GDDR3 PCIe
Core Clock 625 MHz
Memory Clock 1986 MHz
Memory Size 512 MB

HIS HD 4850 IceQ 4 Turbo 512MB (256bit) GDDR3 PCIe
Core Clock 650 MHz
Memory Clock 2000 MHz
Memory Size 512 MB

HIS HD 4850 IceQ 4 TurboX 512MB (256bit) GDDR3 PCIe
Core Clock 685 MHz
Memory Clock 2200 MHz
Memory Size 512 MB

It is just my opinion... trying to clock the standard HIS HD4850 to the TurboX speeds is seen as a serious overclock... but then again i'm a noob at overclocking...so what do I know...:D Oh and by the way, i have the Turbo edition and it clocks to the TurboX speeds with no problems... Hope you manage to get it right...:)

Yes but they are still the same card just factory overclocked, so even my standard ICEQ should be able to do TurboX speeds... Unless they put dodge GPU's on the standard edition :P

I mean some people got theres upto 720/2400... THat is a serious overclock :/

Maybe they make all the cards as a standard then do overclocks, the ones that pass get the turboX sticker and so on haha:p

Re: the Turbo-X version, I don't know if they specially bin the chips for the core(pot-luck obviously on the non-Turbo-X cards), but the memory is Samsung(which is apparently better) as opposed to Hynix.

720/2400... GOOD LORD! you right...that is SERIOUS:eek:

yes but what you probably will find is that is a hd4870 core, but the demand for 4850's might force them to start using 4870 cores... or that was meant to be in a 4870 but just fail @ a 750mhz speed, but run's fine at 720 mhz

as for the ram, that's a decent overclock, 400mhz's is decent, but not insane or magical... I reckon that guy just has tremendous luck, and he just do happens to overclock :D. you possibly would find many of the insanely overclockable cards out there, but the chances of then reaching a serious overclocker are low lol

So reinstalled ATI Tray Tool..

This card is dodge... I cant even get the minor overclock of the Turbo:
From
625/993
to
650/1000

Ingame... It hangs and VPU rescues me :P I can get upto 690/1109 with ATT without getting Artifacts but ingame it hangs...

So... I take it the card is just a bad batch... And it isnt overclockable...

Can this warrant a return :( I want different card... Anyone else with the IceQ standard edition that cant overclock?

Oh on another note...I can overclock my Turbo Edtion to 700/1200... But i'f i'm using dual monitors it k@k's itself. Not sure if its the cpu or the gfx card... but i can only use the factory settings (650/1000) with dual monitors.
