Overclocking E6300

Hi all

Im thinking of overclocking my E6300, but having a look in my BIOS, i can't see anywhere that allows me to change the FSB of voltages.:mad: Could this be locked by my mobo/bios? (my mobo is a Intel 946GZIS)
 
sorry bud if your mobo is an intel motherboard and not something like asus or gigabyte with an intel chipset your screwed

my advice is go and buy the ga-965p-ds3 gigabyte board

one of the best low end overclocking board on the market

or just buy a motherboard 965 chipset you wont regret it

my e6300 sits stable at 3.22ghz

tis what i feared.:( i dont suppose there's any way of unlocking it? i dont wanna overclock the hell out of it, just want to boost my performance a little.
 
nope Intel don't want you to overclock thats why they do it to catch unsuspecting ppl who find out about overclocking and then cannot do it :(

get some cash together and get a brand like asus or gigabyte and never in your life buy an intel made motherboard
 
I have the same processor on a GenuineIntel Westchester G965 board and I don't suffer lags in anything I've tried to run. For the first time in my life I really don't feel the need to overclock my processor.

EDIT: Sorry, I inadvertently and incorrectly downgraded my motherboard in my last post - sorry Mobo

Wow, an E6300 from 1.86GHz to 3.22GHz?! I assume you're not running the stock heatsink and fan?
 
nope aqua gate mini 120mm water cooling

but i got it to 2.8ghz on air stable and under 44 cel

its at 34-35 cel now
 
I wouldn't try that, especially since one of my previous CPUs saw the magic smoke and died after me bumping up the FSB by 1MHz from stock...
 
lol yea but these cpu's are made to be overclocked hey, also the mobo's wont allow you to easily fry your cpu
 
1mhz and it died? Then you must have had bad h/w to begin with.

For it's price the mobo killa has is one of the best OCing boards you can get. If you want to OC try getting one of those. To be able to get an E6300 to 3.22Ghz. :eek:

Well at least I get my E6400 to 3.4Ghz. :p
 
My E6600 idles at 39-42C (stock speed) going to install my new cooler and OC it sometime.
