Overseas Iburst user

Thats more or less what I said a while back, iBurst can hardly supply 1mbps to the majority of it's customers so I doubt very much that many except a few will ever see 2mbps, and even then those will probably only see 2mbps for very short periods if they are lucky.

I'm not sure if that would really be true, you think that people who don't get 1mbps at present would see no increase at all?

I'm sure everyone would experience faster speeds, maybe not exactly double but I'm sure the physical connections to the towers aren't really at <1mbps. Otherwise what would be the point of the upgrade.. but i guess thats what you're getting at :p

If we still have supershaped connections what use will 2mbps be?

It would be faster.. for things that aren't shaped, what use is 1mbps to you atm if its supershaped?

I guess if I had no P2P at all either it might be as bad, but I never use P2P in any case.

I never said people not getting 1mbps now would not get it after the 2mbps upgrade since after the upgrade they probably will get 1mbps and with luck a little more but thats not the point, why should everyone pay the same if some are only going to get 1/2 the speed.

iBurst should introduce different packages as they do in Australia where those who cannot achieve the 1mbps should be put on the closest package that covers them such as 512kbps for those not been able to get more, and then charge them accordingly.

As an example your connection is nowhere as fast as mine so why should you be paying the same as I do.

$88 for a 2.5GB 512K connection? that's R625.68 a month ($1 / R7.11) and our 2.5GB 1MBPS (claimed) connection is R529.00 a month (month-to-month)... so we're not being ripped the most in the world - thats a first

Because iBurst is not run by Telkom :D

blunt where did you get that $88? Is it not Australian dollars in which case it woud be around R525.

This I understand, I would be on the 512kb now rather than 1mbps.

You didn't mention this before, I just thought you meant there isn't much point as most peole wouldn't see an increase.

iBurst should really just introduce different ISPs and let them introduce whatever they want, best to have some competition.

I think he is looking at the Mayalsian (or Norwegien) iBurst page. I posted them and the new Malaysian guy said the prices were in US Dollars.

If it is Australian then ours is still better value.

The prices are in US $. I posted the link to the site mobi.tm and it is in Lebanon, not Malysia or Norway and I am therefore Lebanese. Hope this is clear now!!

Oh no we're definately the ones getting ripped the most, and not just with iburst.

DSL, supposedly, will be launched here on the first of May, Labor Day. I had a brief look at the prices, 50US$ for 512k/4G limit, and 70US$ for 1024k/5G limit
and about 100$ installation and services on top.
Feeling lucky yet?
So I might be putting my iburst to rest for a while and start saving.

Wanted to install a Linux firewall at some of our sites for use with iBurst, but was overruled by management

what was their reason for not wanting to?
