I'm running Windows 7 64-bit edition, my Windows folder is 15.3 GB :wtf: with 83 288 files. is this normal? I haven't formated the partition in roughly 5 months.

Yup. Mine is 16GB. :)

Well, if you're powering 95% of the world's computers, you have to please a lot of people, with a lot of different needs. Simple as that.

This is one of the most senseless threads I have ever replied to.

Turns out my temp folder is 120 of that :p

Perhaps I should start clearing that out..

Here's how you do it :

Create a new folder on your C:\ drive, call it Temp = C:\Temp

Now go Control Panel > System & Security > System > and click on Advanced System Properties on your top left.

Now look at the bottom, you'll see "Environment Variables". Click on it.

Now you'll see two variables listed TEMP and TMP

Click on TEMP to select it and click Edit. Now change that whole %profile%windir%, or whatever it's called to C:\Temp....and do the same for TMP.

Now you'll know where all your temp files are stored....delete it often, or write a little batch file that deletes the whole temp folder when you login.

Awesome tip, will take a look at it. But I think C:\Windows\Temp is easy enough to find :P

Besides, I know a few apps create temp files in C:\temp and that could get hairy.
