Good evening everyone I would like to ask something if a car in front of you is going fast (normal speed that is required) why do you feel the need to over take that car.

Some guy yesterday said something to me that is why I started this thread. I will tell you guys after I hear the reasons for over taking.

Usually it's better, and by better I mean safer, to be in front of a South African driver than behind.

Because he was driving like a dick and in front you can see potholes and don't get window chips.

I don't like to keep the cars behind me waiting.
Then depending if the car keep same speed or up and down, then I overtake.

If I see the driver of the car infront of me can't drive normally, so when we catch up another car, wil he overtake or sit behind him, making difficult for me to overtake, so then I overtake before we get in such situation.

Otherwise I'm happy to play follow the leader, even if it is 10km/h slower. So long he keep speed and overtake as per normal.

I don't mean to be rude but I didn't force you to read this thread, if you fine it boring no need to respond.

No, just we have been here before, the previous threads have been closed.
This is just more fun to be continued

because my car is faster than his

So you gauge cars but he is driving within speed limit which is required.

The guy who was behind me and later over take me when we got to the garage (filling station) he came to me and told me my car is to small. The is no way he was going to allow me to be in front of him. Which made me ask do we gauge cars on the road when we over take.

If it is an old skedonk, then yes, then it is bye bye

I don't normally overtake unless someone is driving very slow. But I like empty road in front of me for 1 reason only.

Potholes.

That's why if I'm not in front I leave at least a 4 second gap. Tires and rim replacements "aint" cheap.

Anyone in the fast lane (read right hand lane) who insists on driving at or below the speed limit should just keep an eye on their rear view mirror, and move left when someone wants to overtake - its road etiquette :D You may not agree with them speeding, but we've all done it at some stage
