Overtaking

Why do you think 120km/h is so special? Its just a random arbitrary number decided on 40 years ago.
If you want safer speeds in case of a collision you need to lower the speed limit. In a head on collision at 120 you are still going to die. Most cars are also more economical at lower speeds so why drive the dangerous speed of 120 when we can drive a much more economical and safer speed of 80km/h.
Or since 120km/h is already dangerous (proven by our road fatalities) and somewhat boring on long distance travel, just increase the speed limit or remove it completely. That will result in better overall awareness and less road fatalities. I would like to see anyone who argue against this try and fall asleep at the wheel doing 200km/h.

Someone here said it does not mean if you have Learner sign, you can't drive maybe you are teaching someone at home to drive. When you go out run to the shop you can't take out the Learner sign because you are afraid people will think you can't drive. So when you see someone in the road with Learner sign don't assume that person can't drive.

That's exactly what it means - Caution Learner Driver
The red L means that I must expect inexperienced behavior from the person driving in the marked vehicle. The red L means that the driver does not have the experience required to make split second decisions in a safe manner and should be treated cautiously on the road.

It's not about ability, it's about having the experience to handle a 1 tonne machine safely.

Interesting read, what's your source? I never thought the error margin would be that high on most cars...

Like you misunderstand the rules in this reply. It's not the fast lane, it's not there exclusively reserved for speedsters, it's actually the overtaking lane.
 
I generally drive on cruise control on the highway, indicated 120 or less- usually just a smidgen below 110km/h- my SUV is not that light on fuel to begin with so I try to keep it civilised. So if/when I overtake you, it's simply because you're slow.
 
It was not a fast lane or a free way it was a single lane oncoming and on going road. The guy didn't complain about my driving he said my car is small and ask do I think I can race with him.

That's is why I started this thread to ask do we just cars on roads, that a Chevrolet Spark can not over take or bit faster than vrrrr phaaaa (VW Golf 7)

My source is experience, I no longer drive the bmw but I think the 1% thing was in the manual. I used to set the cruise control at 130 and in the bmw I got a fine for going 131. In my current vehicle i set the cruise control at 135 and have never received a fine.

But that wasn’t stated in the original post which I responded to.

This guy is also known to worry about every little thing concerning his little Brio in an almost paranoid fashion.

Then the origin of the post is moot. Seeing as the driver kept left and was passed on the right.

My wife flew past me in her spark the other day.

I was parked at the time so I let it slide.
