OVH Dedicated Servers any Good?

OVH is to hosting what a cheeseburger and fries is to McDonald's, it's “okay.” It’s cheap, mostly reliable, and you generally get what you pay for. The setup process is straightforward, though their control panel can feel a bit dated compared to more modern providers.
One thing worth noting: OVH did have a major data center fire back in 2021, which wiped out a lot of customer data, permanently, so always make sure you’ve got off-site backups. Don't rely solely on their infrastructure for disaster recovery.
That said, it’s decent bang for your buck. Kind of like Hetzner’s server auctions, also great value, but they come with their own quirks. For instance, I’ve had servers at Hetzner Germany where the IPs got blacklisted for “spamvertisement.” Basically, someone sent spam linking to a domain hosted on that server, and that alone was enough for Hetzner to block the IP. So yeah, there are some questionable practices behind the discounts.
Also, a few other caveats with OVH:
In short: If you're budget-conscious, know your way around Linux, and can handle your own backups and security, OVH is a solid contender. As long as you dont mind the latency.

- Bandwidth caps vary by location, and their fair use policies aren’t always crystal clear.
- Reputation of IPs can be hit or miss where some are recycled from previous abuse, which can impact deliverability and services like email or Discord bots.
- No refunds, even if the server fails early on, unless you're extremely persistent with support.
