Hi everyone.

I'm trying to get the ovhd to work on is20 satellite. I have a dstv decoder working well with high signal and quality yet when I connect up the ovhd it cannot pick up anything on is20. Does anyone have any experience dealing with this and is there a quick fix to get this working?

Mine just worked using my DSTV installation.

Menu->Installation>0000 shows only one option for the satellite selection, which covers both DSTV and TopTV satellites.

Assuming you are not trying to use a SatCR connection (only one cable from LNB for PVR type decoder) then check your connection or try the second cable.

Should work, straight out of the box on the DSTV dish and direction. Maybe there's a fault on the decoder?

If I am correct OVHD dish points in another direction.

No, in this case they are taking about the same satellite that DSTV uses.

In my case Openview works just fine on my Openview decoder and DSTV dish, but I did have to manually enter a few settings first. There is a discussion on this in another is20 thread.

Thanks everyone.

I am connecting to a single lnb so no pvr ot connection issues. The decoder just does not find any satellite therefore no channels.

Do u remember how n what setting u had to enter?

I did a mobile search but I'm not finding the thread

Slightly off-topic, but how is OVHD? I heard lately some channels were not showing. Considering this over paying the monthly DSTV fee.

I cancelled DSTV earlier this month - bought an OVHD decoder for R399 and am pretty impressed by the offering so far. There's obviously SABC 3 (so I can watch the cricket), eTv for the odd movie and news bulletin and then I was surprised by the two extra HD movie channels and the kids channel.

On demand movies and series more than makes up for what I've "lost" in that regard. Biggest bummer is the sport, but I'm hoping my new Mi Box should take care of the Supersport streaming for me (on my parent's DSTV account).

Thanks, yeah I don't need sport so I'll give it a shot... just hope my complex has a good signal.

I just plugged mine into my existing satellite setup (after removing the multiswitch). Really was plug and play

Yes, I went ahead and got one. I was impressed with how easy it was to activate. Detected IS20 and followed the instructions.

I've been getting white flashes across part of my screen this last week (about 1 per second). Has anyone had similar issues?

So has anyine found any decent channels to add to ovhd?

Tried lots of different transponders but none of them pick up any channels.

RT, France24, DW, NSK World, BVN, Lots French , (On Astra4°5°) but adding them is not working on Ellies decoder, and some new decoders, My older Altech with RF out adds them , but did not list them under ALL channels, I had to add them in Favorite list, Then even if I make my favorite list as CURENT, it switches to ALL from time to time(I suppose when the decoder receives some bit for initialing). I think all this is done to prevent from adding other transponders because the decoder is Subsidized by Platco..
The new batch from Altech without RF out (same box) from Game I could not add transponders ..(Or I could but it did not tune to the channels)
Then I returned it..
The smaller decoder (I am not sure what make is it) it is like small square box more looking like media player .. I bought from PEP, Also cant add transponders( It can but din't populate the channels..)

The best OVHD I had was from SPACE TV, but they discontinued them, It was R750 back then, but no hassles with managing other transponders..
I said Had because was blown by surge.. Miss it a lot ..
