Hi all,

anyone around with some PABX (Private Automatic Branch eXchange) experience?

I was wondering, the IVR (Interactive Voice Response), is it a function of the PABX?

Also, can you recommend good, relatively cheap PABX systems? Must be capable of call forwarding.

Thank you for your input!

IVR will depend on what PABX you use, my guess it - it won't come cheap.

Relatively cheap? Uhm, if Call Forwarding is all you need, then any PABX will do. Call Forwarding is just about why a PABX has been invented. If you're looking for 'off site' Call Forwarding, then it becoems something else yes :)

Asterisk is open source and free. Cisco makes systems that would meet your requirements, as does 3Com. Telkom also have some systems...

savage, thanks for your reply, very appreciated!

Actually, I should have been more clear, yes I would like an off site call forwarding. For example, I would like to redirect the calls to my cell phone or another land line. Is this possible?

I am not sure how this Asterisk works, I mean I saw the web site, but don't you need some hardware? Or that is just for IP based stuff? Anyway, we are talking about normal telkom lines here :)

thanks!
