Going to upgrade to VDSL, I see this is the modem Telkom offers.

Few questions.

1. Is it Dual Band Wireless?

2. I do not see any external wifi Antennaes - anyone know how good the reception is?

I have this router and whilst I've found it fine for my home for wireless reception and all my devices the main fact is that it leaves much to be desired in the actual line quality portion of things. If I compare this in adsl2+ mode to my netgear adsl2+ modem I lose snr and my attenuation increases so if you are borderline able to handle vdsl this may not be the router for you.

Honestly I wish I hadn't gotten it. Wifi, Gigabit all that great, the rest... maybe others have had better luck

Hi

There seems to be a bit of hate towards the Pace on this here forums. Been using one for almost 2 months now. No problems so far, but I only have the D-Link to compare it to. Not sure about the Dual Band, but reception is good in all areas in my house.

20 attenuation with pace, 17 with netgear, on paper thats 5mbits worth of vdsl. Granted the netgear cant do vdsl at all but just saying, loss is loss. Then again neither can the pace at the moment...

I have one but I don't use the wireless on it.

The connection stability on it is excellent though, never had it freeze or get stuck before, ever.

I've had mine now for 2 months. Great modem, no logoffs, very good WiFi signal. Get 2.4 Mbyte/s download on 20 Mb VDSL.
Very happy with it.

I just upgraded to VDSL

They told me to get a new router as the upgrade was complete... so I rush out and get the only one available... the Pace one.

Plug it in.... and guess what... it doesn't sync. The line is upgraded because the ADSL router wont sync either.

So I try see if its one of the filters, nope. Also looks like its randomly rebooting.

So now I have no internet at all.I have logged a call with Telkom but its probably the router though... have to go fight with the Telkom shop now :/

A more likely scenario is that the call center has pushed up your line speed to a point where it can no longer sync successfully. Call them and ask them to test your line. It is also likely that you're not on VDSL modulation yet.

The other Router was able to sync at 10meg... it was stable at 8 and got the best speeds at 6.

The rebooting makes me think its the router not the line.

I did ask both Telkom and my ISP to drop the line down to see if its that but they didn't want to. Telkom was on weekend staff and my ISP guy said he didn't want to play with it because he wasn't familiar with the tech and didn't want to F it up.

Where exactly you situated? The fact that you were struggling to sync at 10Mbps previously sounds a bit suspect that they're now offering you VDSL?

Do not let the frontline support guys play with the line I was without internet the whole weekend due to that, TelkomZA fixed it first thing this morning but its real real bad, ISP's have no control > 10mbit and the frontline support have no clue either.

Here's an idea of pace compared to netgear, you can see the stat differences...

For those unfamiliar the pace is the one that starts with "xDSL Statistics"

I saw this as well.

My ISP were not prepared to touch the line.

Still waiting on a tech to come have a look :/

I don't think distance is the issue, i'm less than 4km away. If the don't sort this out by the end of the week i'm just going to change my line back to ADSL.
I can't wait forever

This is basically why I don't have my line with an ISP anymore, their powers seem to be limited to basically resetting ports and logging faults as well as only knowing as much as telkom as briefed them on.

We Have also a pace PACE 921VNX all the pc's see the wireless connect expect one. I have change the setting and frequency but nothing works, any ideas or tips , the machine has win 7 ultimate

Hi Nerfheder

I am having te same issue you had,

What was the cause of the issue and the router rebooting the whole time, and what was the fix in then end.

I had the Pace modem for more than a year with no issues. Then last month I started experiencing serious sync issues. My line will not hold sync for more than a minute. I called Telkom and did a port reset, dropped speed to 8meg, but that made no difference. Then I bought a Dlink modem and voila, my issues have all gone. My stats have improved and my modem says I can get up to 15meg. The Pace modems causes your stats to deteriorate. Stay away from it.

I've been having endless issues with Plex and Chromecast since switching to the Pace. It takes forever to load a video from Plex on my Chromecast and phone. What could be the issue? Noticed that my LAN latency is high; over 100ms. Had no issues playing video before the VDSL upgrade using my D-LINK modem router. Please help.
