I think the rogues they are refering to are users [;)] Someone at Sentech let slip that multiple logon's on one account are still possible with some towers. Apparently these are going to be fixed by 4 Nov. Looks like they are pinning their hope on this freeing up international.
 
well I dont know and as I said before someone else can do some digging cuz I am sick of it.

And no... rougue towers as in they are towers that seem to be giving problems for reasons unknown. As I said before I dont think these people are stupid... I think they need time... but anyways... it is easy to cancel... that much I do know... You just have to approach with tact.

Well I'm really pissed off today.

I switched over to IPCop because I had an old 6gig SCSI drive I wanted to use, so I could have a large squid cache. I've been using it for a week or so.

My connection has been consistently bad for about 8 days now.

I've also been having trouble connecting to sites for about 3 days.
So I figured, screw this and went back to Smoothwall - you know, when your desperate, you'll blame anything.

Well, of course, it didn't change a thing - I can't even access my own fscking web space today and also cannot get my email.

I have no way of knowing whether this is a Sentech issue, because I no longer have SSH access to anything but my web space account, which, of course, I cannot access.

Ah, the joys of internet with Sentech !

Ok, here we go :-

www.samspade.org - cannot access
www.doom3world.org - cannot access
ftp.ibiblio.org - cannot access
www.bluesnews.com - cannot access
www.wired.com - cannot access

Obviously there's some problems at Sentech this weekend.

So, aside from the slow service of 8 days running, I now have this.
 
I have just tried to access one of your sites and "no problem" - straight in. Never even stopped at "GO"
 
Yep, sites are all there.

Have you tried something basic, like resetting your modem - with a paperclip! [:p]

It must be a tower issue then - I can't even access this forum - I finally managed to use an IP number to SSH into my Hetzner account and am writing this in lynx, which isn't really that much fun !
I'm going to move the old modem around and see if I can't hook up to another tower - I can get 12 or 22 these days.
 
Managed to login here again with Mozilla - much better - other sites still not working tho.

Guess I'll have to plug the modem in via USB to find out what bloody tower I'm hooking into - pisses me off that you can check that via PPPoE. [xx(]

Signal has been bad today too, for the first time ever ? - most likely they are doing some maintenance on tower 22.

I'll check Sentechs wonderful notice board to see - haha - via Lynx and my Hetzner account, because I can't fsking access it either ![:D]
 
You sure it's not an MTU issue with your PPPOE setup?

That would effect all sites tho - also, hooked up via USB / windows had exactly the same issue.

It's all fine now - I have no idea why it happens - it's also a very recent thing.

Anyway, if you look at my "feel sorry for anyone registering today" thread, you'll see that it's impossible to do a new registration on towers 12, 22, 60 or 66 today [;)]

I took my laptop out for a test run and realised I hadn't installed the modem software on it - turns out I couldn't.

I presume there's a way to hack this via registry / IPWireless install folder - I'll give it a shot now to see - would be nice to know this was possible, maybe it's old news that it is ?

yes, you can. Just edit HKLM\SOFTWARE\IPWireless Inc.\IPWireless PC Software\REG_REQ and set it to "No"
Then just set your username and password in the username and password fields

bb_matt, if you did all that testing via win2k, nonroker's probably right, I've spent a week not being able to go into registration page on a clean 2k setup, after haccking reg, still couldn't see webpages, changed mtu, and saw my first webpage on 2k
