Painfully slow MTN HSDPA?

Anyone else experiencing painfully slow internet speeds?

Since Friday last week, everything I use my iPhone to tether, I get extremely slow speeds. Sometimes it picks up, but generally, it's VERY slow.

This is the result from Speedtest:


I'm not the only one complaining though - few people on MTN are complaining.

Oh and it's happening both in Roodepoort and JHB CBD. And I'm using the "internet" APN.

I connected this past weekend using my PC plus tethering via my HTC Hero, with MTN contract sim .... many failed connections, and also s-l-o-w when it did connect

Same here tonight. The speed is horrible. I battled to get into this forum. Overseas sites seems faster though.

And all of the sudden I get speeds I've never had before. More than 2mbps!!! :wtf:

Same here... It's been happening every weekend now, I've still got cap but it's 4kbps, can't even facebook :O

I've had a progressive deterioration over the last few weeks. I used to get more than 300kb/s on a regular basis. Now I get the same speed as Edge only the MTN dashboard says HSDPA. Is it just MTN or is it Vodacom and Cel C too?

Tried out my wifes new MTN dongle, the alledged superfast E1820. Shocker, it's even slower than my E156G.

Sent the helpdesk an e-mail to find out why my speed has been throttled back.

In Cpt too .. networks been changing signal again .. either upgrades or wind messed with tower again. A reboot needed .. Hopefully Monday morning they will notice

My MTN HSDPA is working normally (i.e. expensive and slow) I would say; I am in Pretoria (Moot) using E220.
