Panasonic to stop making plasma TVs

Sad... Panasonic, Sony & Sharp really neglected investing in the "cool" factor in their brands. Their are arguably better quality than Samsung, but that alone isn't good enough anymore in the fast changing electronic world.

Yes, quite sad as Panasonic (and Fujitsu) used to make some of the best plasma displays around. Their industrial panels are indeed the best. The ZT60 that Panasonic have showcased at this year's CES is regarded to have the best black-levels, ever. Pity. :(

didnt panasonic buy pioneers plasma division (the previous kings of plasma tech)??

:(

No stopping the inferior tech taking over. Cheaper to make, ship, more profits.

Hopefully Samsung and LG will keep it up, their plasmas are excellent (perhaps better out the box performance than Panasonic), but the build quality is no where near that of Panasonic. Panasonics also buzz less.

Yeah they normally buzz while displaying brightly lit images.

Mine buzzes a little, but it's nothing horrendous.

Pity pity panasonic plasmas still kick samsung leds

Panasonic plasma TVs no more

Embattled Japanese electronics giant Panasonic plans to scale down its television business and withdraw from manufacturing plasma displays

I still got the 50" pv series made locally and they were darn ass brilliant. Was hoping to get a newer 65" ones. I see they are already producing 8k panasonics with 2400hz refresh rates, still displaying better dark colours than leds, and 0.01ms response rates.

But now what to get. Maybe better get one before they dissapear locally. Urgh.

I remember i played on an xbox at changi airport on their 103" full hd unit when it launched. The installer had just set it up and at 4am the airport was empty. So played a bit with them. Cost about 500k then but darn was it nice.

Going forward led projectors should take over. Their bulbs are cheap and their lifespan 25000 hours. Maybe thats an option.

I've got a 65" PF9 series panel, and it kicks ass. The only downside is that PF9 series does not cater for 1080p24 (standard on movie Blu-rays) on the DVI input. It does do 1080p24 on the VGA input, but you'll need something like an HDFury converter. This resolution and refresh rate is catered for on the PF10 and PF11 series.

Dam. I am a huge Samsung fan but I have to admit, some of the Panasonic TV's were better. Plasma's of course.
