Panel beaters taking car for a joyride

Something I noticed when I took my car in about 2 months ago to replace the boot lid, car had only travelled 3km BUT the avg fuel consumption for the trip was 18l/100km ! It is normally just over 7.

Cars that we move around the dealership...in other words, start it move from one bay to the next, then out to the wash bay, and back on to the floor, end up with ridiculous average consumptions, simply because the engine is never given a chance to warm up and run normally after starting it - so basically the car has been started several times and the choke has been dumping fuel into the system every time....so to answer your question, 18l/100 would happen quite easily, and will rectify itself pretty quickly once you are out on the road.
