How long do they usually take to complete a job? so far my experiences with them is a promise on a certain date, only to find that nothing has been done at all, is this the norm?

Is this an insurance job?

I once requested a touch up on a very small area which basically required polishing, brought it in the morning, was told it would be ready in the afternoon, nothing was done by closing time, just joyrides... I took the car back and never returned, affected area was barely visible in any case.

Why?

Just get the haircut yourself and start throwing your toys... But take photos of your car extensively before you do.

Hahahaha I know right, last year I scrapped a small portion of the bumper. Took it a guy my friend recommended, he said it would take a day and I should come pay and collect the next day. I went back to the office that day, in the afternoon I get an sms from my tracker that my car has been switched on, later on my car is on the road, so I login to the online tracking page to see where it is headed to, it was on the freeway, doing 170.
I printed out the trip report, that evening my friend and I went to this guys place. Asked him where he was going to which he denied taking the car out, showed him the print, asked for my keys and off I went. He lost some money that day.

Don't trust indie panelbeaters, rather take it to a certified workshop, and they do take their sweet time.
