Papi's ADSL promises

FWIW, I applied for an ADSL service on 1 September. It was installed last Friday, or 71 days later, and this only happened after repeated lengthy calls to the 0800-375-375 call centre. I lodged two complaints and the matter was escalated to a supervisor. I find it very hard to believe claims that average install time is three weeks. I was told by the call centre that the average waiting time in Johannesburg is eight weeks. In the end, it took about 10 weeks to get the line installed.

Yes, Papi, we consumers have been deeply penetrated... and it hurts.

Telkom has caused so much damage to our country, that the first thing they SHOULD do, is apologize to the citizens of this country. Then they can make empty ADSL promises.

But I still won't trust them - never ever ever.

My father in law is still waiting after 3 months. Maybe they are only taking the lines that have actually been installed into account.

3 gig caps suck
pay per gig sucks
line rental sucks
speed sucks (availability, price)
triple billing sucks (2 x line rental + isp)
shaping sucks (VOIP and gaming and all of the above)
telkom sucks (MONOPOLY, wasn't there a game by that name?)

oh ya and Papi's favourite night time nightmare: all the peeps he hasn't exploited yet. Or should that be 'serviced' yet?

"It is painful to look at money sitting there and not being exploited," said Molotsane.

Why dont you guys just email Papi and tell him he talks kuk?

Wot, you mean Papi doesn't read the forum? That would account for a lot.

Double nightmare: papi hearing from us, us hearing from papi (or one of his minions.) Any time I've emailed telkom I've been met with a deluge of spam. Better not to hear from them and vice-versa. I read this forum, why can't papi (seeing as it is the biggest consumer group in the country!?) Certainly the most vocal. Telkom is glaring in their absence.

hehe got my adsl installation after 5 daes of application...

...The next geographical destination that it was targeting was Cape Town, Molotsane said. But rolling ADSL out around the country would take time...

This Article makes it look like Cape Town doesn't have ADSL!?

*EDIT* Wait I think it's refering to the pilot project? my bad if so...
not well written if this is so

more empty promises. A whole article which can sum up what his Papiness said in 1 word: Nothing.

Papi the POOPALL know not what he is talking about - just more empty talk by an overpaid, underworked bag of hot air.

Telkom are trying..

...trying my paitience..

Papi you suck, stop screwing us over.

kthnxbye

Well, I can certainly say this, I applied for my DSL on the 4 November 2006. This was to give Telkom AMPLE time to install my line by 2 January 2006 because I am going overseas for December and move into my new place on the 1 January 2007. I run an online business and it is critical to have my line installed as soon as I moive into my new place.

I gave them my Fiancé's contact number as an ALTERNATIVE number to contact in the event that they couldn't get hold of me.

Yesterday my FIANCé received a call from the local Telkom branch to tell her that they are only going to be able to install the line around mid-end of January and that they can't be certain because they are waiting for some equipment.

My questions are:
1.) Why the hell didn't they just contact me first like I told them too? Are they afraid to tell me directly cause they know I'm going to be pissed??
2.) What equipment???? The physical line is already in the new house. My exchange is already DSL enabled. (Which I confirmed by the way) So what equipment do they need other than their brain to flick the switch to the DSLAM port and check that the line is working!?!?
3.) The new regulations state that Telkom must install new DSL lines within 30 days of application. Not 85-90 days!!
4.) This is why I applied early!!

I have to call them today now to fight with them because they contacted my fiancé directly and not me.

PAPI, get with it Brutha!!! This country is suffocating because of your lack to introduce DSL not to mention DELAYED and bad of service from your branches.

ADSL takes > 3 month in Newlands

Considering the the price we pay ADSL shouldbe installed next day. I waited 3 months in Plumstead & 2 months in Wynberg & my friend is waiting 3 month in Newlands. Are we supposed to believe that the average is 14 days !! HA HA

Dear telkom. please take the time to read what we write. My phone bill pays your salary.

I actually don't care what he says they are going to do, I will only believe it when I see it. I am unfortunately one of the customers that are messing up their average install time. 8 Months wait so far and I can't foresee that anything will be done in the next 2 months.

Molotsane said this was because it had encountered some problems that were unique to the South African environment and as a result, the software had to be customised.

I presume hes talking about special "Self Install" software...

My girlfriend was asked if she wanted a self-install. 3 weeks later they called and said it was ready, and a techie didnt set foot in her house. I literally plugged in the modem (with the isp settings already set on the modem) and I was online in a few seconds.

What BS software is this Papi?
