Paracetamol with codeine 450mg like betapyns etc

GO and see a chiropractor about the sciatica...you can throw the pain pills away (unless you're addicted to the codeine)
It might be worth a try, but if all the chiropractor does is tweak your spine and does not provide any other therapy or exercises to do at home to improve the problem, then they are to be avoided. If they start talking about your spine being out of alignment or, worse, subluxations run away, as fast you can, unless it is visible on an x-ray.

Rather visit a good physiotherapist.

how is your weight? If you are anywhere overweight you should get back to your correct body mass level, even a little below if you suffer from back pain.

Codeine is your bigger problem. Your body turns codeine into morphine. two morphine molecules is diamorphine which is heroin. get the picture ? highly highly addictive. Do you watch House or Brothers and Sisters?

Yes as an ex nurse have to agree. You have become addicted. It happens too easily!

Bet when you started you could go for longer on a smaller dose? your addicton is using the pain to induce you to take more tablets!

For Sciatica you should maybe go to a pain clinic? They will assess and prescribe meication and therapies for you specifically.

Diet, exercise, alternative therapies, posture correction, all will help with sciatica. The good old hot and cold treatment too.

Pain medication is just feeding / numbing the symptoms not curing the problem

By the way, one of the biggest everyday problems wth analgesics and codeine phos in particular is that it induces constipation! It is used in anti- diarrhoeal medication!!

I was in hospital for over 2 and a half months and I was getting 3 morphine injections a day plus codeine, paracetamol and ibuprofen pills 4 times a day. Although I missed the pain killing affect of the morphine injections I never went through withdrawals when I left hospital. The danger is when you keep increasing the dosage but for normal medical doses you don't have much to worry about. Constipation can be a problem but just eat dried fruit (prunes are the best) or take some laxatives.

I would only worry about the paracetamol if you have a weak kidney or family history of kidney problems, I'm no doctor though, speak to one if you are worried.

Padded Mouse is right though, you need to try fix the problem first instead of masking it. Taking pain meds for the rest of your life should be the last resort.

Sciatica cure

I suffered for 3 months with this problem until someone told me about Iburprofen (400mg). I am now fine and there were no side effects.
There are also excersizes that you can do to relieve the pain.

well I quit the pills completely cold turkey since Tuesday....no withdrawal pains as I expected....also took a cusion to work for my back....still in a lot of pain. ..will look into the chirprator thingy.

Aspirin is great for treating and preventing heart attacks and strokes but you only need 100 mg day to help prevent . 1 disprin is 300mg. There is general consensus that as a pain killer it should rather be avoided.

LOL u need to do some more reading EB, it doesnt prevent AMI's
