Paracetamol with codeine 450mg like betapyns etc

well kidney damage is a sad fact with paracetamol abuse

Dont sit all day dude, i know its your job, but you need periods to excercise and stretch, u know what i mean.

Have you seen anyone for your sciatica?? And i dont mean Google

Get one of those orthepidic chairs! I saw (and tried for the fun of it) one about 2 days ago, they're awesome. A bit weird to get used to but you will sit properly and its quite comfortable. Its hard to explain what they look like but they have no back rest and your legs are angled backwards kinda thing. Maybe someone knows what they look like and are really called

Codeine is your bigger problem. Your body turns codeine into morphine. two morphine molecules is diamorphine which is heroin. get the picture ? highly highly addictive. Do you watch House or Brothers and Sisters?

Wow, I learnt something.... were u ever an addict or how do you know that?

errr do u have documented proof of that. Ill ask our snr partner he just spent 4mnths in a UK A&E

The bbc articles on kidney failure need to be taken into context.

Paracetamol is a very good drug and these diseases are relatively rare. Its much safer than Ibuprofen/voltaren ect which more commonly cause stomach ulcers and interstitial nephritis + acute kidney failure. Codeine very commonly causes addiction. Aspirin at pain killing doses is nasty on the stomach and more commonly causes kidney problems than paracetamol.
Any doctor would rather you be on paracetamol long term than any of the others.
There are some circumstances however (neuropathic pain) where other drugs(not primarily pain killers) can be excellent pain killers (some anti-epileptic drugs and anti-depressants)

go read up on the effects of asprin regards to the synthesis of prostaglandin and thromboxin A and B

More than you think about Asprin

Aspirin is great for treating and preventing heart attacks and strokes but you only need 100 mg day to help prevent . 1 disprin is 300mg. There is general consensus that as a pain killer it should rather be avoided.

so taking two pain pills 3 times a day makes you an addict???? Huh???

The fact is I only take it in the week when sitting at work and when working at home at night.

Weekends as of Friday nights I never take any at all. So I don take Friday nights, whole Saturday, sundays....and never felt the need for a "fix"??

What I was saying earlier is that no matter what I do and yes I have tried different chairs over the years, after about ten in the mroning I start getting lower back ache and sciatica in my right leg. I the take two pills and it gets better almost immediately, then I take two again about 4 pm and the another tow (only sometimes) at about 8pm especially If I have to work to say midnight. But I have never felt a buzz or felt high from it. I will admit that once I had flu and took about 4 and definitely felt groggy/sleepy but that's about it. What else can I do for pain if not pain killers...or get another profession. I do mostly strategic business plans and high level accounting for major account managers

House, fun? Yes. But realistic? No. Even if heroin were two morphine molecules (it isn't) I'd have to ask by what path the body converts morphine to heroin. Particularly clever of the body when it breaks heroin down into morphine.

You're not an addict but you're taking an addictive substance. The amount of codeine in your tablets is low. However the risk is there. To give you an example codeine is safe if you take it for short periods even at much higher doses. You not addicted so stop.

My advice is as follows:
try to find out the cause of sciatica -(may be treatable)
if you have to take pain tablets - take 2 panados and see. repeat after 4 hours (paracetamol is more effective at keeping pain out once it is in your system) you will be surprised.if you need more relief, take brufen 200 - 400 as needed (not on empty stomach). no pain killers are completely safe.

GO and see a chiropractor about the sciatica...you can throw the pain pills away (unless you're addicted to the codeine)

I know what you are talking about! no idea what it is called though, I knew a guy who had one...was rather comfortable i must say, once you get past the whole no back rest idea!
