Paradox House alarm

HI,

Is there anybody that can help, we have a Paradox home alarm system for a couple of years now and for some reason our siren stopped working - we have tested the siren on a separate battery and seems to work fine but when the alarm goes off the siren doesn't go off anymore.

Any ideas what the issue may be?

The port driving the siren might be faulty.
I know on my Paradox system I have a dedicated output for the bell. Siren in our words. I would try another port or pgm. Be carefull not to exceed the current rating for that pgm. I would highly recommend installing a relay between the pgm and siren. My Paradox system use 0v switching on the pgm's so take note of that when installing a relay. Also you will need to program the panel to allow the siren to be on a specific pgm.
Our local security shop sell relay boards for alarm system like R100 each.
How did you test the siren? Did you disconnect the siren in the panel and put 12v on the wires going to the siren? I am suggesting a cable fault if done otherwise.

If you still don't come right with that try a full panel reset. You will need to set everything up again but that's the only thing that fixed mine when I had a similar issue. Mine was an out of the box issue where the siren would not sound when connected to the siren ports. Reset sorted it out.

Pretty much what others have said.

1. If you can, send a siren signal through the PGM. That eliminates wiring and faulty PGM, you then have a trigger issue somewhere ( Unlikely )
2. Swop PGMS. If that works, PGM is faulty.
3. Disconnect the siren, run a electrical signal to the siren directly using the wire pair of the pgm ( just check what voltage/amperage but I would assume off a 12V would maybe be ok? ). If the siren sounds, something is wrong with the panel and PGM signalling.
4. If that fails, try applying a voltage at the sirens terminals directly. If that works, you have a cable break between the two. If it fails, your siren is likely faulty.

I would suspect a broken wire more than either a PGM or Siren fault, especially as we come into winter and roof rats like to come indoors to be near geysers etc for warmth. They chew cables.

Can I ask those knowledgable on how to upgrade the IP150 firmware? What's the best method and what codes/PIN do I need if it was installed by someone else. I have the installer code I think.

I wish I never upgrade my firmware. I had an old unit. Lost some functionality along the way like arming and disarming via web interface.

I believe the latest firmware is not compatible with the home assistant plugin. That was about 8 months ago when I checked.

I had no problems with codes. Found some default ones I required on other forums. One downloads the firmware file one for one and do the upgrades via software.

I think I must reset my setup. Pgms dont activate after firmware upgrades and using the babyware software. Bell sqauk never worked on my evo192.
This will probably be a full days work to get everything going again...
