Parcel stuck at customs, sigh

Right, so NZXT sent me a complimentary side panel for my PC case after I scratched it to bits (their service is incredible, really). That's not the issue. Since they sent me the panel for free though, the issue kicks in:

They sent it to me without giving me an invoice or anything (priority shipping and all that, all free). Now it's stuck at customs (since the 23rd of March, actually), and I have to provide them with an invoice before they will release it. Now since I don't have the invoice and JIMC won't understand that, I've approached a bit of a limbo situation.

I have asked NZXT for an invoice, but they're not getting back to me right now (no idea what's going on there). I've spoken to some guys who seem to know their stuff and they're saying I should create my own invoice and send that to JIMC, but that poses some problems:

1. What if they check the invoice for validity and find it's a fake? The values and addresses and things will be done fine (even though I don't know the value of the panel), but what if they find out?

2. What does a side panel cost? I have no idea...

3. What if I generate the invoice and there's info missing?

So yeah, I would just like to know what I can do at this point. It's been a while now and I'm starting to get a bit annoyed, specially since my PC's side panel doesn't look too well with the massive scratch across the side... :/

Been in a similar situation...

The problem is, customs might ask for a proof of purchase after reviewing an invoice, which wont help your situation.

The best thing to do is ask the sender for a zero rated invoice, or a document proving it was a replacement / gift at no cost to you. Dont try to make up an invoice, it will backfire.

Won't it help if you send them the communication where NZXT said they will send you a free replacement?

I used to think the same but the reality is they are simply following a protocol.

Just bring the evidence forward and it's usually no issue.

Instead people make **** up and try to get inventive which just delays the process.

We all love to complain about corruption but then have a **** when customs wants a perfectly reasonable invoice.

I managed to get an invoice from NZXT, yay! They said there was supposed to be one in the box, but someone must have slipped up with it.
