So my parents just got back from Hong Kong and bought my daughter who is 11 a Android Galaxy 3 tablet.

I am wondering what you experts would think is the best parent control software out there to install on her tablet?

Bear in mind she's had a gaming pc and internet access since she was 6 and I use k9 protection (http://www1.k9webprotection.com/) on there. She also knows about the fact we are restricting her on what she can do online and she "claims" she understands why :) You would not believe the kind of weird sh*t she's found on searching youtube for "My little pony"

Thanks in advance

My definition of onerous for kids and tech, is you get a mono 2 line Ltd phone until you can afford to hey your own with your own money from your own job. If I am paying for it, it has no Internet.

Might have a solution for you. Router with custom firmware(in house designed) that the we (company i work for) sells. Only reason for mentioning it is that it works brilliantly. I use it myself and it just works. If you want to know more, five me a shout.

OpenDNS's parental filter.

But really if the kid is tech savvy then you're not going to get very far....

Dont be such a fart and let your kid do what they want. My folks didn't block anything online for me, and I turned out fine :whistling:

I'll second open dns. Just point the routers dns to open dns servers. Download the open dns dynamic ip client that scans for ip changes. Set the password to other then default on the router and then do your filtering on open dns cp and you should be good to go.

It looks interesting, but does it give me the region switching I get with dynamo?

Yip it does. I use it personally and works 100s.

In short does: parental control, geo unblocking, ad blocking and more. Best part you can control it per device on your network.

Dnsthingy is router based thus no router no Internet. All the other suppliers is application based that can be bypassed on the device itself. It is also in the firmware of the router thus it cannot be removed.
