Dnsthingy is router based thus no router no Internet. All the other suppliers is application based that can be bypassed on the device itself. It is also in the firmware of the router thus it cannot be removed.

2. If the end device is blocked (due to restriction example xxx) is this page (captive portal, I guess would be best term) customizable?
3. Can specific sites (eg. Youtube, Social Media as type etc.) be blocked / Pre-defined rule sets available?

DNSthingy is truly one of the best tools available, once you are used to it, you will want it on every network you work on.
Test it and see the speeds on which webpages load because their ads are blocked at DNS level (not like the adblock tools available for browsers).

Yip can set you up with a loan unit for a few days to test. Will just need to confirm availability and then we can take it from there.
