Paris 2024 Olympics

Our medal hopes are fading fast with none of our athletes making the cut on Tuesday's events. 4 medals still, 2 coming from 1 person. Looks like this will be a terrible Olympic games for team SA.
As for the 1500m final - I love it when the underdog steals the limelight from the favourites.

We seem to have a few good athletes making semi finals and finals but no world class ones that can actually win a medal. Quite a few 20 - 23 year olds. Maybe in '28 they can make the podium.

Well at least it's not the worst Games for SA. Better than Tokyo 2021 and Beijing. We usually get 5 or 6 medals so 4 is pretty average.

Rio 2016 was by far the best Olympics for us in our lifetimes with 10 medals

True. I don't think it's been a terrible games for SA. And the small squad has done well. It reflects the reality of where our athletes feature in their respective disciplines across normal competition. Good conversion rate into semi-finals and PBs or near-PBs. Not many also rans travelling for development purposes.
Now that it looks like the dodgy cesspit is being addressed, perhaps there will be more lottery and corporate funding for sports in the next few years.
Although with Tanja Smith retiring, we may do worse in LA 2028, unless another star features.

It's a pain.

We were good enough to watch it yesterday, today not.
Yeah it's stupid. What better way to celebrate and advertise the Olympics than to share clips from the Olympics on social media for the whole world to see. Not everyone can watch the Olympics.

Hamish Lovemore (SA) through to the SFs of the men's kayak singles :)

He's now in the SFs of the kayak single and doubles. Hopefully finals too and at least 1 podium. Both K1 and K2 SFs scheduled for tomorrow morning from 11am or so I think.

Apparently they weigh in each day, so she made the weight previously, won her bout then ate and tried to lose weight before the final weigh in, harsh but I suppose those are the fine lines.

Even worse is that she had a Silver won which is then lost by the DQ, but I guess some people say that she was trying to squeeze herself into a weight category that she should not really have been in,

60% of revenue for the Olympics comes from tv rights, so they try to protect that.
