I figured that's prob the reason, but why does it only affect the Olympics? I've never seen this problem with any other sport or tournament.
 
I don't know if supersport is still covering the marathon, but the last athlete is now past the Eifel tower. Crowds still there cheering her on, pretty amazing thing happening right now.

There is clearly no love lost, I see Hassan was born in Ethiopia so maybe they know each other? Either way think it was a 50/50 call or racing incident but happy for Hassan amazing performance especially considering all the track races she has in her legs.

Yeah has Two Oceans and Comrades in her legs but even if she skipped those Top 10 would probably have been her ceiling, usually need track speed to medal on a marathon.
 
There might be more people in the crowd "running" with her than were in the race.
 
So the Ethiopians have filed a protest against st Hasan?

You know what? I gave it a shot and watched a bit.

Aaaand its a really dumb Americanized sport. They run around for 5 minutes then they're tired and get subbed off. A few more minutes then its a timeout so they can sit around. Another few minutes then its mid game break so they can do a show for advertising, while the players go sit in the changing room.

Repeat all of that like 8 times and that's the game. Sure, once every few minutes there's a good play, but there's just downtime and garbage inbetween...not worth watching.

Agree. I love sport, I've tried watching it in the past, really gave it a go last night and I just cannot get into it.
 
Wow I went to the shops after the marathon and when I got home I see that one's still running/walking lol

Edit: and just in time for the finish I see.
 
Kinda sad it's almost over.

Despite some and some in the media talking smack, it's been a stunning two weeks.

The City has been immaculate, the event management faultless, and after Tokyo the full stadiums were a joy to see.

Vive la France, these Games were gold.

Now I have some series to catch up on.
 
Just the closing ceremony to go for me.

Overall it was a great Olympics. Great opening despite the drag show, great sports, super impressive crowds, no Palestine or climate protests/interruptions, no load shedding, and SA walks away with 6 medals!

Double our medal haul from Tokyo (which I'll admit, was terrible) -still, nice improvement.

3rd best result for SA in my lifetime. Equal with Athens 2004 and only Rio 2016 and London 2012 were better.

One day we'll get more than 10 medals lol.
