I wonder why some of these like the French women and Stentson tried to break away earlier - way before halfway - knowing full well the superstars are in the group they are breaking away from.

Now just after halfway they've both fallen behind. I don't get the logic.

EDIT: The pace is not blisteringly fast, so quite a few will fancy their chances

I think by her own admission, marathons aren't her thing because she's just not fast enough for the shorter distance compared to the ultras.
