Anyone know of any parkades around Wale street in town? I only get in at 9, so any of the free outside parkings are full by then.

I've tried the Hospital but they're full, so at the moment I'm paying R9p/h parking outside :(

If memory serves there is one in Burg Street off Wale.
Up Buitengracht, left into Wale left in Burg

The parking garage is on the RHS not far after turning left. If you keep going you have Bukhara (great curry) on the left and you hit Greenmarket Square

Good luck. I used to get to town at 06h45 just to get free parking.

Do you work flexi-time? Why not start work a bit earlier?

Take the train. No matter what you do you're going to be screwed if you get to the CBD after 7am.

Can't you find out from the people that you work with where they park?

I didn't know there was still free parking in the CBD. I used to park behind the CTICC but they closed that parking a couple years back. I now pay R500 a month to park in a hotel's parking next to my work.

And to be of greater service here it is
Its Mandela Rhodes Parking
No idea about the rates

That would be perfect, I've mailed them so lets hope.

I'm just not a morning person - also to be honest I hate looking for parking. I'd rather pay for a guaranteed spot somewhere.

It's an option yeah, I'd prefer to drive but that would be plan C.

I've asked around - either they have paid parking in the hospital (which is full) or they get in earlier.

The Pepper Club (Cnr Pepper & Loop Street) has undercover bays available @ R1250 pm

Did you manage to find parking?
The free bays, are they only free for an hour or can one park there forever for free? Asking because might be renting a place in the CBD which doesn't have parking and the cheapest seems R500 a month for parking... Would hardly use car so fine to leave it in a free bay if there is no time limit...

There are certain free parking areas in town. 2 I know of is next to the Castle in Strand street and in Bo-Kaap between the houses.

I wouldn't advise leaving your car on the streets of town for long periods.

Read through this thread still didn't find an answer.

So my question. Are there any free parking areas near Loop or Long St? I don't want to walk far.

I'd be willing to pay on a monthly basis as well, but not an arm and a leg.

Under the N1 down from Artscape is still free if you say you are from News25. Between Loop and Long lower there is an open parking opposite Virgin Active that will let you park there for R20 if you get there really early (6am or so) but once you leave the parking that's it...

Dunno how far Virgin Active would be from my destination. Anything close to Wale St?

It's right at the bottom of long near the CTICC...

We have looked and looked for affordable parking in town and found nothing. All my hotel connections have moved on. There are new buildings popping up in and around the CBD. Doesn't hurt to ask them about parking.

I thought so, that's a bit too far to walk though, but thanks.

I'll try my ninja google search skills, to try find free or affordable parking.
