Parking in Cape Town CBD

Funny this thread popped up today - I've been parking at Mandela Rhodes the last few years but just received a mail saying they're increasing tariffs by R800 a month. Making it R2030.... crazy :erm:

Parking lot or random street parking? and is it free? :p

Random Street parking, yes it's free. They don't charge above Buitengracht.
You can also look for parking at the end of Bree St, between Carisbrook and Buitensingel.
Also one street below that is Jamieson, which I think they don't charge for either.

Thanks. I'm gonna have to Google these streets as I don't know the CBD that well.

Park on buitengracht street. You have to get there early though.

Does anyone know what time the open parking behind the icon building (R25 for the day) fills up?

When I worked in Town (about a year ago), that parking was "full" by 6:30 for day parkers. Befriend the guy at the gate (helped him a few times with his phone/email issues) he would let me in before 7 but then there were times when he denied me access LOL

OK, reviving this thread. Seems the open piece of land has been sold to some developer and now there is no more parking there. Does anybody know of any similar places to park within town (CPT) Parking in Cape Town is now becoming ridiculous.

I would park by the fruit and veg in roeland street

...and people laugh at the thought about buying parking bays
