Hi,

Would like to know if anybody has used a company called partserve.I see they are the official local repair people for Lenovo. My 1st experience with them is a joke - try take nearly 4 months to fix a pc and still the excuses come.

Yes,
Unfortunately they do all the carry in repairs for Lenovo...
If you are not on their backs they will take forever to repair.

Used them once before. Took Lenovo laptop in and collected 2 or 3 days later.

Ok so maybe its just the Durban office that's useless

they also supposedly fix PS3's ... but they give back recon units last time I had to deal with them. Blue ray died and they wanted something like R1500 for a recon unit i.e. "fixing the BD drive". I ordered the drive from ebay and replaced it myself for the all inclusive price of R250.

Replacement parts take too long to come, from where ever they come from...(Well that's what Partserve says).
But for on-site warranty the parts come super fast...

They are the official Playstation repairer as well.

Had no problem with them swopping out my first PS4 apart from the fact that they have absolutely no courier service whatsoever and expect everyone to be a walk in customer which even in Cape Town is a huge pain in my ass as I needed to take half a day's leave to make the mission.

Also used them for a Lenovo repair in Port Elizabeth. Service was also fast.

Must have changed some since I last used them. They dragged their feet on a PS3 repair I needed done back in 2009.

A good rule of thumb to have is to never touch a product for which the warranty is handled by partserv.

It is much safer to just consider your product without a warranty at all. In fact if you bring it in to partserv you have pretty realistic chance that they will steal your laptop somewhere along the line.

They are good on refurbs. My friend bought some HP printers, PC's and laptop. No problems, except printers are not fully tested. One printer had constant mechanical problem, even having the whole kit replaced. 50 pages test output was attached to the printer gave indication of the problem, but test passed...
But it was half price of a new cartridge (Laserjet 4000 series 5 years ago).

For warranty repairs they need to adopt different philosophy, it looks they are not ready for a new challenge.
