Does anyone know if using a driving school makes passing the test easier? For instance the driving school telling you what questions will exactly come out or can one pass the test with just going over the K53 book.

You can pass using the K53 but the driving school I went to about 9 years ago had the exact questions of each of the variants of the learners tests you may get. I assume all driving schools would have this by now. Its easier if you learn from the book, then go to the driving school to test your knowledge instead of just memorizing the answers. (Probably why some people cant understand the rules of the road )

Yes look on your local facebook groups, plenty that should offer the service.

No longer written from a book - its a computer test. You get random questions.

so we finally joined the 21 century? when will we finally have what they have overseas
being a test of perception, clicking on road hazards ect..

You don't click on it, but they have images that have items circled. TBH - the test felt a lot easier than when I took it the first time in Gr10.

Not sure if the driving school makes it easier. I just feel like using the K53 book is sufficient enough to pass, the test isn't that difficult.

You need just find the right department, some is still on old system.

Think milnerton is in cpt, wife was there last year.

Fair enough. I was told that even the ones far out on the west rand up here are computer based by now. So kinda assumed it's everywhere. :)

Don't forget the loose pages in your cubbyhole/on the table next to you , 5 x 200 will do the trick:twisted:

Haha, my bike learner's in January was still written. The book and reference guide looked like the sames ones I used 20 years ago when I first did my vehicle learner's. :D

Honestly the learners test is not hard to pass if you buy/borrow any of the K53 books available and just properly read it. Most of it makes logical sense in the context of road safety but some of the questions are really laughable, e.g.
The purpose of a vehicle horn is:
A - To attract the attention of potential passengers
B - To hurry a fellow road user after a traffic light has turned green
C - To alert a fellow road user or pedestrian to you vehicle's approach or presence, or to call attention to a hazard
D - To play a tune for the amusement of other road users

Obviously the answer is A and B, which is why I oppose the computerised version of this test since you need to circle both. Other would say C but the words annoy and aggravate are missing, hence it disqualifies the answer.

I did a computer test back then, but it wasn't random. There were 4 possible tests, and which of the 4 you got were random. The driving school I went to had all 4 of the "random" tests available:D

You don't have to go through a driving school. Test is quite simple...

Just download a free k53 app on play store or Apple store and study it from there. My girlfriend did that and studied from the book and after the test she was shocked that most questions that came out were already covered from the app.

This.

I went through the K53 book and then went to driving school who had the tests that I practiced on.
