Passport Applications

I had the same issue could not get a booking at either Std bank in JHB.
So I just went to the branch, stood in the line and they processed my application.

Four days later passport was ready for collection.

How did you pay? At the branch?

Anyone been able to do anything on the E Home Affairs site since yesterday afternoon? It is extremely slow (10 minutes to load a page) and keeps on throwing random token mismatch errors.

Site is down now, cant get in.

So I managed to get my passport application all done and dusted. I registered, applied and paid online but couldn't get a booking at the bank. I urgently need my passport so had to go in to Home Affairs.

I went to Home Affairs in CPT yesterday morning, got there at 05h30 and was about 100th in the line.
I took my own chair, sandwiches, powerbank, raincoat, etc, etc.

I got inside the building at 15h30, so pretty much 10 hours of standing in the queue to the minute.
Once inside it took me an hour. So 11 hours in total.

The amount of scammers and solicitation in the queue was an annoyance, constantly people trying to sell you spots to get in front of the line and so on.

If I were to do it again I'd suggest getting there at 4am. You'd be able to park in front of the building right by the queue. Sure, you'd wait 4 hours before they even open but then you should be close to the front and be done by 10am. Making it a 5 or 6 hour day instead of a 11 hour one.

Edit: Had SARS on the brain

Did not realise SARS issued passports too. Which office did you go to? There's a SARS office not too far from my place - it might be worth swinging by there,

Holy hell...

You could have driven to Grabouw, Caledon, or even Bredasdorp and gotten that done in +-30 minutes, and then driven back home, and still not wasted that much time.

I could have, but I checked with someone who was at a smaller branch (Atlantis I think) and they only had one person working in the branch and after loadshedding couldn't get back up again. He was there all day and didn't get sorted.

So smaller branches are a gamble too for different reasons.

I think big branches you are more likely to not have issues, but will wait much longer.
Smaller branches are more likely to have issues, but if there are none you'll be quick.

That was my finding from chatting to people

Applied and paid for my daughters passports about 3 weeks ago. FNB still showing no availability for booking since then at any of their Gauteng Branches handling passports.

So managed to get in, make and approve payment but now when booking a slot at FNB Greenpoint, even if I search until 30 December it says no slots available :(

EDIT: I see even though my payment shows as Completed Successfully, when going to the booking page I still get the pop up saying no payment received which is why I'm maybe not seeing any slots. Will wait 30 mins and try again.

I had a 13:00-14:00 booking at FNB Merchant Place today. Arrived at 13:30 and was out by 13:45. It took me two months to get the booking.

Tried all morning to make a booking and the pop up saying I hadn't paid kept appearing and there were no slots.

Just tried again now (still got the pop up) but managed to secure a slot for 28 July at 2pm. Will give feedback on how it goes.

Just one thing. The confirmation email I received said I need to take the printed copy of the barcoded eHomeAffairs Application Confirmation with me. Where do I find this? Logging in all I get is the Application Workpage.
There is no such thing. Just have your booking reference when you go to the branch.
