Hi everyone.

Apologies if this has been discussed before.

I'm needing a passport ASAP. Basically by the 25 May. Only got told today. Will be going to Lesotho for work.

Anybody in Cape Town area know the best Home Affairs office I can go to that will have this done very quickly? Perhaps somebody that's had this done at such short notice.

Home Affairs doesn't issue temp passports anymore, only emergency ones (my trip won't be considered emergency according to them).

Any help would be appreciated.

aaaand go....

My father applied three weeks ago. Got it a week ago. That was at Home Affairs in town.

I Applied for my new ID Card online on a Thursday, eventually dragged myself in to their branch for biometrics the following Monday, and Friday of that week it was ready for collection.

Hopefully your application goes smoothly... but my recent experience gives me hope you will get it. (if you are between 30-35 you can do the application online i believe) https://ehome.dha.gov.za/eChannel/Home/UserFiltering

This is sounding good! I read somewhere somebody saying they went to Paarl and it was quick. I'm closest to the Bellville Home Affairs, but I know that is probably a nightmare.

Quick question...

Are the passports done at the offices you apply at? Or is there a central location or specific place they are done and sent to back the the branch you applied?

Excuse my ignorance

Got mine in a week, however still need to collect. Go to Paarl Home Affairs, so far the best queue wise.

Or if you can go to Malmesbury, I hear they have even shorter queues. Stay away from Bellville HO

Central branch. You can maybe even try the Standard Bank at Century City, but I have no idea how long that will take.

Unfortunately I'm only 30 in November so the online application won't allow me.

So you are saying you got yours at the Central branch but suggest Paarl because of queues?

Sorry, they process your application at a central branch and send the passport back the the branch where you applied.

It takes a week. The long part is standing in the queue to apply and collect. You will be fine. Make sure you have cash to pay for it (think its R400)

I was at Paarl on the weekend, at 11am, we were done with collections in under half an hour for 2 people. I applied for a smart ID 3 weekends ago and that also took under half an hour.

Awesome. Think I'll head out to Paarl for mine. Was the Wynberg branch pretty quiet as well?

No Visa needed thankfully

If you're in a rush why not ask one of those friendly people that come on our very own MyBB forum around midnight and advertise all those easy to get documents? You could even get your new smart ID and a PhD in Astrophysics while you wait.
